The instruction is top notch

Cutting Edge Kempo is a great place for both kids and adults to take classes! I began studying there at the same time as my son who is 5. The instruction is top notch and everyone gets the personalized attention they need. Kids have a blast but are learning a very involved skill set at the same time. Adults learn practical skills and get a great workout. I am very happy with the frequency of classes offered and look forward to learning something new each week.

Extraordinary for both children and adults

Cutting Edge kempo is extraordinary for both children and adults. My 3 years old daughter joined the dojo approximately 3 months ago. Her first experience with martial arts was at a near by dojo where they put more emphasis on playing instead of learning. At first we thought it was normal for her age. Before we register her we decided to try cutting Edge kempo. It took her sometimes to realize that this dojo was not only about playing it was a combination of serious learning of the art with games and discipline. Also these kids only gets their stripes when they master the moves and their belt and ranks when they past the more than an hour long strengthening test. For us this is the best approach of child growth and learning. The best part it is very affordable. We decided to join cutting Edge kempo and have been enjoying it since then.

Sensei Nick is one of the most talented and dedicated martial artists I’ve ever met. Even though I only trained under him for a short time, I still carry the lessons he taught me to this day. Anyone interested in practical, effective martial arts should give his style of kempo a try. You literally have everything to gain and nothing to lose.

Fun but firm

My son is 9 years old and started at cutting edge when he was 7and 1/2 he absolutely loves it. Sensei Nick makes it fun but is firm when he needs to be. He treats the kids as if they’re his own and teaches them respect. I am so glad we chose cutting edge and would recommend to anyone.

There is no challenge that he could not conquer!

Fantastic place and reasonably priced. The Sensei’s and instructors are fantastic with the children. Sensei Nick is great with any type of child, including ADHD children, special ed children, and those that are slow learners. He realizes that all children are different and learn at different levels, but makes it know that they all have one goal, and that is to protect themselves. There is no challenge that he could not conquer!

I will never forget my first day there at Kempo

Best experience if my life. My father is and was my main influence into martial arts. He was a pioneer in his style as well as my first sensei. When purchasing a uniform from Holbrook with my father; I was seven at the time and I was watching the class at the time completely mesmerized by the welcoming environment and sheer fun. After being trained by my father for a short time my parents decided I needed more structure and my father refused to send me anywhere other than Holbrook Kempo. His own words were that Holbrook is and was the very best school. I will never forget my first day there at Kempo. I walked in hiding behind my mothers legs and there stood sensei nick; standing tall with his toothless grin. He taught me the basics of Kempo and I was hooked ever since. I fell in love with the style and sheer art if martial arts. I gained confidence and respect for my peers and most importantly myself. I studied Kempo from when I was seven years old to this present day where I am now 20. I’ve recently taken a break due to my fathers passing but I plan on making my return very very shortly. Kempo martial arts in Holbrook changed my life and has basically molded me as a human being. One thing that makes me truly feel accomplished and feel pride is that I am a black belt and with Kempo I earned it.

Sensei Nick is a great instructor, for kids he’s incredible. My daughter trained from the time she was 4 till she went to college. she earned two black belts, and more importantly a lot of good morals and life instruction. My son has been going here for four years. Not only is my son learning martial arts the right way, he is learning to be a better human being.

Sensei Nick has a personality that people are drawn to, and this is especially evident with children. Sensei Nick talks about how to treat people, deal with different types of bullying situations, and other soft skills.

If all else fails Sensei Nick and his amazing instructors will teach you how to defend yourself. I was so amazed at his teaching style, I decided to start taking classes myself. I am learning stuff I never imagined.

If you are looking for a place to grow as a person and learn martial arts, I recommend that you come in, have conversation with Sensei Nick and try two months of classes.

I just recently enrolled in this dojo, while my husband has been training in Cutting Edge Holbrook Kempo Karate for a couple of months now and he is doing pretty well. I have 2 boys who had joined for a couple of years prior, and it will be a matter of time that my 3 year-old daughter will be joining as well soon. We had a  wonderful experience in this establishment. Through the years, I have seen my boys progressed in so many ways in such a short time (gained confidence, motivation and discipline at home and in school). Sensei Nick is child/family-oriented, diligent in building defense/offense skills to students, gave the class a good work-out and at the same time, making every session fun and enjoyable. In general, the teachers are humble, very friendly, supportive role models, and are  highly skilled professionals (they are simply phenomenal), mainly focused on effective self-defense techniques, character building development, and physical cardio/fitness to kids and adults alike. Best decision we ever made. I am very proud ~ and highly recommend Cutting Edge Kempo to all families!

After reading several articles on the many benefits of martial arts for children such as improving focus, socialization, and self control (including self discipline and respect), I signed my son up at Cutting Edge Kempo Karate last year and have seen him gradually improve academically & socially.  Sensei Nick is amazing with the kids, teaching them the techniques and making it fun-which is so important especially after a long day of school.  More than anything, I have been so impressed by how he goes above and beyond with the kids.  If a student has a problem (not related to his class), I’ve seen him sit with them, talk about the problem, etc. Also, classes are offered six days a week which gives us a lot of flexibility with our busy schedules.  In my opinion, it’s these qualities that raise Cutting Edge Kempo Karate above the rest.

My son was a student in another Dojo for almost 2 years before they unexpectedly closed.  After a month of searching, Cutting Edge Kempo proved to be a PERFECT fit!  Sensei Nick is an AMAZING instructor! In the 3 months that my son has been a student, he has grown so much.  Sensei Nick makes it priority to give my son individualized attention.  He thrives tremendously when he knows that he matters and he is important! My son LOVES to learn and very much looks forward to his classes.  The entire staff is wonderful!  When you are there, you are NOT just another customer, EVERYONE gets greeted/treated equally. I’ve been training here for almost 20 years and have no plans of stopping any time soon. Our system isn’t flashy, nor is it “pretty” so if you’re looking for a place to break boards and learn how to flip, or if you’re looking to try and “get” a black belt in a couple years, this is not the place for you. But if you’re looking for a place to learn practical self defense techniques for real life scenarios, then look no further. I have learned so much over these years, but there is still so much more to learn. There are classes for people of all ages, with the youngest being around 4-5 years old. The kids, in addition to learning how to defend themselves, also learn important life skills such as discipline, respect, and self control, not to mention will play games that also focus on fitness and skill, while being fun too. I have visited other dojos and while some have been good, and others not so much, cutting edge Kempo remains the best. Come get on the mat with us!

I’ve lost over 20 pounds

I’ve been going to Cutting Edge Kempo for over a year and a half now. During my time here, I’ve lost over 20 pounds and gained not only self confidence but a Kempo family. Sensei Nick has been supportive in every step of the way. Nick has been training for many years and can teach you the skills required to not only avoid a fight, but finish it if necessary. He is also very flexible and honest in his tuition plans.

Sensei Nick and the Cutting Edge Staff are incredible. I have an 8 and 6 year old boy taking classes now and they have taught them mean skills beyond self defense . The staff has taught them discipline, responsibility, accountability, leadership and gave them confidence, while being fun. Then environment is very friendly and family oriented. Recently my wife and I have enrolled in the adult classes, which has been a great way to stay in shape while learning self defense. In the next couple months our 3 yr daughter will hope fully start.
